DSP - Sponsored Residential Services

Direct Support Professional (direct care staff or DSP) is defined as: Staff members identified by the provider as having the primary role of assisting an individual on a day-to-day basis with routine personal care needs, social support, and physical assistance in a wide range of daily living activities so that the individual can lead a self-directed life in his own community. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing supportive services to individuals who are intellectually disabled that participate in their Sponsored Residential setting. The type of supports and assistance will include, but are not limited to the following areas: Supports and Skill-Building Activities Skill-building interventions with social activities, daily living, meal preparation, housekeeping, money management, and community integration/awareness. Assist with daily routine activities Health and Safety Practices Support with getting to medical appointments Monitoring of identified health health and safety risks Administration of prescribed medication Documentation Requirements Complete all required documentation such as support notes, data collection notes, medication administation recorded data, behavior observation data collection and other required documentation Trainings (approximately 2 weeks of training during the new hire onboarding process CPR/First Aid Behavior Management Medication Administration DSP Orientation Human Rights Home and Community Based Training Advanced Autism Training Interpreting Individual Support Plans and Documentation Serious Incident Reporting Infection Control with Enphasis on Flu Epidemic DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT TRAINING NEW HIRES DURING THE ONBOARDING PROCESS, SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY.
