About the roleArchipelago Philippine Ferries Corp is seeking a Data Protection Officer to join our organisation on a full-time basis. Based in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila, this role is fundamental to our commitment to protecting customer and employee data whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant data protection regulations. As Data Protection Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our data protection strategy, safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring our organisation operates with the highest standards of data governance and security. This position holds strategic importance in protecting our operational integrity and maintaining stakeholder trust.Key responsibilitiesDeveloping and implementing comprehensive data protection policies, procedures, and frameworks that align with local and international data protection regulationsConducting data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) to identify risks associated with new projects, systems, and business initiativesMonitoring and ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations across all business unitsManaging data subject requests including access, rectification, erasure, and portability requests in accordance with legal requirementsProviding guidance and training to employees across the organisation on data protection principles, privacy best practices, and regulatory obligationsInvestigating data breaches and security incidents, documenting findings, and implementing corrective actionsLiaising with relevant authorities, regulators, and third parties regarding data protection matters and regulatory inquiriesMaintaining records of processing activities and data protection documentationCollaborating with IT, Legal, and Human Resources teams to embed data protection into organisational processesStaying current with evolving data protection regulations and recommending updates to policies and procedures as neededWhat we're looking forDegree in IT, Law, Business, or related field3+ years in data privacy, compliance, IT governance, or Data Privacy Certification or equivalent trainingPrivacy compliance,data protection , Cyber security fundamentalsShipping transportation, logistics, or other data intensive industries (preferred)Understanding of privacy risks in AI implementationAbility to report privacy risks and compliance matters to managementAbility to perform privacy oversight without inappropriate conflicts of interestWhat we offerArchipelago Philippine Ferries Corp is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace.
